For third marriages, it jumps\nonce again to 73%.<\/li><li>For first-time marriages that end in divorce,\nthe marriage typically lasts around 8 years<\/li><li>The wife is far more likely to initiate divorce,\nwith women initiating proceedings 75% of the time<\/li><li>Divorce rates have more than doubled for people\naged 50 or older over the last twenty years<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/twenty20\/private_images\/t_standard-fit\/v1521838797\/photosp\/2b0431aa-804f-46b9-b6d8-7aef925afdfa\/2b0431aa-804f-46b9-b6d8-7aef925afdfa.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this knowledge in hand, we know that divorce is not at\nall a rare occurrence, and every one of use knows at least one person who has\ngone threw a divorce or grew up in a household where a divorce occurred, if we did\nnot experience this ourselves.
